In 2002 VivaPlus started broadcasting. With different “city formats” the cannel blended traditional music television with current on-site reporting from various international metropoles. Visually most distinctive was the way presenters filmed themselves with shaky consumer-cameras.
The city format of Los Angeles was designed in accordance to this camera use and to the intended infographics-style. Furthermore it produced interferences of all kinds of regularities: the endless grids of the L.A. street-map, palm trees along the boulevards and the windows of oversized stretch limos passed along and interfered with the television´s frequency of 25 frames per second – to produce patterns with the same effect as the dots do along a turntable´s edge.
